Fresh Table Figs

These figs are freshly picked and ready for the table. Figs have to ripen on the tree. This is a difference from other fruits which can be picked in a firm state and left to ripen off the tree. It also means that a fresh fig may look like it has outgrown its skin. This indicates it is plump and luscious and it is hard to resist eating it once it has reached this state.

Although figs do not have a long shelf life they can be kept in a refrigerator for 3-4 days. They can be used in different recipes such as grilled figs wrapped in prosocutto and drizzed with balsmaic dressing, or cut up in a rocket and blue vein cheese salad.

Yum !

Vacuum Sealed Bags - Frozen or Unfrozen

These are fresh figs halved and sealed in 1.5 kg bags. They are ideal for jam making, cakes, or breakfast smoothies. The vacuum sealed bags can be used immediately, or left in the refrigerator for several days. They can also be frozen until such time as you are ready to make jam.

If you purchase them in frozen paks they should be used as soon as they have thawed.
